December News
Thank you to the Year 6 children for decorating our Christmas Tree, and to Father Christmas for coming to keep an eye on the children.
Everyone has been busy preparing for our Carol Service, and it was lovely to see Tal-y-Bont Chapel full of parents, families and members of the community supporting us. The children sang especially well, and we also had the chance to listen to instrumental pieces performed by some of our older pupils.
We have been celebrating Christmas by enjoying a delicious Christmas dinner. A big thank you to Aunty Helen and Aunty Cathy for preparing it. The children looked wonderful in their Christmas hats too.
Before the end of term, a special visitor came to the school, and the children had the chance to show off their dancing skills at our disco. Father Christmas had heard that the children deserved praise for their performance in the show, and he brought a small gift for each one of them to reward their efforts.
Catrin from the Water Board came to lead an assembly, presenting information about the water cycle and how to save water. Afterwards, children from Years 3/4 and 5/6 had the opportunity to take part in a workshop learning about how we use water.
Some of the Year 6 pupils had the chance to listen to a presentation called “Don’t Steal My Future”. It was a valuable opportunity for them to learn how to communicate effectively with others, both face-to-face and digitally, as well as how to keep themselves safe.
Alongside the Christmas busy-ness, Dosbarth Crafnant has been learning about the true meaning of Christmas and also about the North Pole in their learning areas.
Dosbarth Melynllyn have been writing instructions on how to make toast for the alien who has arrived in the classroom, and they had the opportunity to taste the toast and choose their favourite topping to spread on it.
To finish the term, the children from Reception to Year 6 went to see the pantomime Cinderella at Venue Cymru — a lovely opportunity to enjoy themselves at the end of a very busy term.
We look forward to a break over Christmas and a chance to relax before returning here in January — a new term and a new year!
